Tasmanian woods such as Myrtle, Huon Pine, Sassafras and King Billy Pine have featured strongly in the line up of Barry's steel string and Arch Top acoustic guitars.
Truly one of the most beautiful woods aesthetically and sonically. Brazillian Rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) at its best is the wood by which others are measured for musical potential. Barry was fortunate enough to acquire good stocks of pre- CITES wood cut in 1961. He also sources this rare wood from antique furniture often in excess of 120 years old . All guitars shipped outside Australia are supplied with a pre-CITES export permit. No permit is required within Australia.

Woodtone has a long history in Australia with Barry Kerr bringing together some of the most precious and rare woods from a lifetime of collecting and building to deliver 'one off' instruments every time under the Woodtone brand. These timbers will continue to be used to make Woodtone Guitars stand out from others.

Only a handful of guitars in the OM steel string range are built each year along with the occasional arch top and F5 Mandolin.
Each instrument is built from scratch with no two instruments exactly alike. Due to the limited production it is not possible to accommodate commissions or custom orders but finished guitars are nearly always available and more are on the way. Instruments that are not pre-sold may be offered here on the web site for sale or on a 'first right of refusal' basis to my existing customers.
